Final Shabbat of the "season"

Shalom all,

Our final Shabbat services for the "season" will be held this Friday, June 10th in the Curry Coastal Pilot conference room in Brookings and will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Please enter through the double red doors at the rear of the building on Art Walk Alley.

On Saturday, June 11th, we will conclude our class "The Torah - Inconsistencies and Survival" based upon two books - "The Book of J" and "The Jew in the Lotus".  Class on Saturday will also be held in the Curry Coastal Pilot conference room in Brookings beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Class fees are $5/class and are based upon a 10 session class.

After this month's activities, I will be resigning (retiring?) my position of leadership at Temple Beth Shalom.  It has been rewarding to see the vibrancy of our little congregation as together we have explored our faith through prayer and study.  The connections and friendships made during Elizabeth's and my years with Temple Beth Shalom will remain a treasured part of our memories.  Not that we are necessarily "going anywhere", just stepping back to let others lead while we "take a breather" and enjoy other endeavors.

So, since I only have this one last chance to "bug" you all for funds, I'd like to remind folks that Temple activities don't come without a cost and if one values what Temple Beth Shalom has to offer, financial support is necessary.  While we never turn people away for lack of funds, we expect and appreciate support at the rate of $150 per person or $300 per couple for the year 5776.  If you are fortunate to be able to give more, that generosity is greatly appreciated.  And if you feel that you haven't fully contributed your fair share during this past season, please consider contributing to my last plea for funds in support of Temple Beth Shalom.  Thank you all very much for your support, generosity, and friendship during these past years.

Finally, as I've mentioned before and by way of introduction and transition, I want to announce that Susan Humphreys will be filling my role in leading the congregation in 5777.  I hope that you will support her in her new role as you have supported me.  From this point forward, Susan will be the main contact person for the congregation and she will provide whatever contact information she chooses when she assumes the role.

So, to one and all, thanks, again, for your support and I look forward to seeing you all at Shabbat services and/or class.

B'shalom,

  - Marty
