Passover and beyond

Shalom all,

Time is slipping by so quickly that I can hardly believe our Temple Beth Shalom community seder is only a few days away.

This year, our Passover seder will be held in Brookings at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church (where we had our Chanukah Party) on Saturday, April 4th beginning at 4:00 p.m.  The address is 401 Fir Street, which is just across from Azalea Park.  As most of you know, the seder meal is a pot luck affair and Vivian will again, gratefully, be coordinating with congregation members regarding food items.  In addition, we generally collect a $5.00/person donation for the seder.  Also, we will need some volunteers to help set up, probably about 2:30 p.m.  So, if you are able and willing, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Our next Shabbat service will also be held in Brookings on Friday, April 10th at 7:00 p.m.
Services will be led (as usual) by Rabbi Les Scharnberg and will be held in the Curry Coastal Pilot conference room on the lower level.  Please enter through the red doors at the rear of the building off Art Walk Alley.

On Saturday, April 11th, we will hold another class on "Jewish Sacred Texts", which will, again, be held at the  Curry Coastal Pilot conference room beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Fees for the class are $5.00 per session or $50.00 for the ten session class.  Also, if you have not helped with membership dues in yet, please consider doing so.  While we never turn people away for lack of funds, we expect and appreciate support at the rate of $150 per person or $300 per couple for the year 5775.

For the remainder of the 5775 Temple "season" (through June), you can expect that we will hold Shabbat services and classes every second Shabbat of the month alternating between Crescent City and Brookings.  So, April 10th and 11th will be in Brookings, May 8th and 9th will be in Crescent City and June 12th and 13th will conclude the season in Brookings.

Unfortunately (or happily), Elizabeth and I will not be joining the congregation this year for the Passover seder as we will be celebrating with our very expanded family in New York.  Family members are coming from NY, VT, MN, and OR and, I believe, the numbers may actually rival our Temple Beth Shalom community seder.  So, I want to wish one and all a joyous Passover holiday and I hope to see you at services on April 10th.

B'shalom,

   - Marty
