Shabbat for January, 2015 and beyond

Shalom and Happy (secular? Christian?) New Year!  I never know what to call the New Year on the Gregorian calendar we use in our daily life.

This weekend we will be celebrating Shabbat as a congregation again at the Temple in Crescent City (956 J Street).  Services on Friday night will start at 7:00 p.m. and will (as usual) be led by Rabbi Les Scharnberg.

On Saturday, we will hold another class on "Jewish Sacred Texts", which will, again, be held at the Temple at 10:00 a.m.  Fees for the class are $5.00 per session or $50.00 for the ten session class.  Also, if you have not helped with membership dues in 2014, please consider that a "New Year's resolution".  While we never turn people away for lack of funds, we expect and appreciate support at the rate of $150 per person or $300 per couple for the year 5775.

For the remainder of the 5775 Temple "season" (through June), you can expect that we will hold Shabbat services and classes every second Shabbat of the month i.e., January 9th and 10th, February 13th and 14th, March 13th and 14th, April 10th and 11th, May 8th and 9th and June 12th and 13th.  Also, we are planning to hold our community wide Passover Seder on Saturday, April 4th.

So, that should give everyone a "heads up" on when we will be getting together as a congregation and I hope to see you this coming weekend.

B'shalom,

  - Marty Grodin
