Chanukkah Update!

Chanukkah begins Tuesday, December 20, at sunset. We light one main candle every night, plus one other the first night, two the second night, and so on, until we have a total of nine candles burning on the night of December 27. The holiday ends at sunset, December 28.

We will celebrate shabbat chanukkah with services Friday at 7 P.M. at Beth Shalom, 956 J Street in Crescent City.

Torah study is cancelled this week.

On Saturday, December 24, Beth Shalom will hold a Chanukkah party at the Crescent City Coast Guard Auxiliary Building on Marine Way, off Citizens Dock Road in Crescent City Harbor. The festivities run from 3:30- 6 P.M. The temple will provide paper and plastic goods, potato latkes and pizza. Everything else is potluck. We could use sodas, salads, apple sauce and sour cream for the latkes. Main dishes are good if they do not contain pork or shellfish. If you have Chanukkiah ( a Chanukkah menorah or candelabra) please bring it with candles. We have not located candles for Chaukkah in Crescent City yet. There is a rumor that Fred Meyer in Brookings has them. We will try to provide candles.

Additionally, Rabbi Les Scharnberg will be with us for holiday prayer, songs and stories. This event is open to the public  and children are welcome.

Please join us for services Friday evening and for our festive Chanukkah party Saturday afternoon. Have a great holiday week!
