Shanah
Tovah everyone!
Another great turnout for Rosh Hashanah
services - even in the middle of the week! We had a minyon for both erev
Rosh Hashanah and morning services the next day. This is becoming a
wonderful expectation for each Temple Beth Shalom service or class.
I am hoping that even more people will show
up for Yom Kippur, inasmuch as, it's on the weekend. Erev Yom Kippur (Kol
Nidrei) services, then, will be held at the Temple in Crescent City on Friday,
October 3rd at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, October 4th, Yom Kippur morning
services will begin at 10:00 a.m. - again at the Temple in Crescent City.
Once again, it seems that I need to remind
folks that the Temple does not "run" on air and it is an expectation
that people, who can afford to, will contribute financially, as well as with
your participation. Annual membership "dues" of $300 for
couples or $150 for singles are expected and
greatly appreciated. We never turn people away for lack of funds but if
you are lucky enough to be able to give more, that too, is appreciated.
The earlier you make your contributions to the Temple, the less we need to
worry about having the funds to sustain our programs. Some people have
made contributions already BUT - not enough to sustain us throughout the
year. This appeal is usually made only once a year. So, if you appreciate
the value in your lives of having a functioning synagogue congregation in this
little "spit" of the universe, then please do your share to allow us
to continue to make it happen.
Here's wishing one and all a healthy, happy,
and prosperous new year for 5775!
