Today (Wednesday) is Yom Hazikaron, Israel's Memorial Day. It's a time to remember those who died fighting for Israel's independence, and in the wars since. At sunset tonight, we move into Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israel's Independence Day. This is a day of celebration in Israel, immediately following the day of mourning.
We have tentatively set a date for a congregational meeting. We will meet at 5 P.M. Sunday, May 20 at the temple. There will be refreshments. It is just about two years since I was pressed into service as president, and Judi Lewis became treasurer. We need to get some new leadership. We are also considering suspending services, at least for the summer. Please come and let the group know what you would like to see for the future of Beth Shalom.
Our mailing address is P.O Box 1557, Crescent City, CA 95531. We can be reached also atdelnortebethshalom@gmail.com, or on our blog at http://templebethshalom. blogspot.com. The blog has this message plus candle-lighting times for Crescent City supplied by Chabad.
Please contact us with comments, suggestions, offers to plan a program or lead a service.
Thanks to the person who left an envelope with cash in it at the temple for us.That person treated the congregation to the oneg bread and snacks last week.
