This Week at Beth Shalom

Although we have been meeting the first and third weekends of the month, we will meet this weekend, the fifth weekend in March.

Services are scheduled at 7 P.M. Friday night, March 30, at the temple, 956 J Street in Crescent City. This is Shabbat Hagdol, the "Great Sabbath," the one before Passover.

Torah study continues Saturday from 4:30- 6 P.M. at the temple. Our parsha this week is Tzav, Leviticus 6:1-8:36. Much of this is about different types of sacrifices. This section also includes the ordination of Aaron and his sons. The special prophetic section for this shabbat is Malachi, 3:4-24. God promises to send Elijah the Prophet back to Earth. We will read this section as preparation for Passover.

Passover begins Friday night, April 6 at sunset. We will not have services next week in the hope that everyone will be with friends and relatives at in-home seders Friday and possibly Saturday.

Our temple seder wil be on Sunday afternoon, April 8 from 4 to 7  P.M. at The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Crescent City Harbor. The seder is potluck. If you have been on our mailing list for a long time, Vivian should call you this week to ask you to attend and arrange with you what to bring. Rose Munger also started a Facebook group called "Temple Beth Shalom Passover Seder Extravaganza." If you can find that, you can respond there. In any case, eveyone is welcome. Do not bring grain products unless the ingredients are marked "Kosher For Passover." Our seder will not be strictly kosher, but we ask people not to bring shellfish or pork products.

We have a blog at http://templebethshalom.blogspot.com. The blog has this message and candle-lighting times for Crescent City from Chabad. We get e-mail here atdelnortebethshalom@gmail.com, and U.S. Post Office mail at P.O. Box 1557, Crescent City, CA 95531.
We welcome comments suggestions, offers to plan  a program, lead a service, or become a temple officer.

Enjoy this week.
