We will meet this Friday night at 7 at the temple, 956 J Street in Crescent City, to greetshabbat.
Torah study continues Saturday from 4:30-6 P.M. Our parsha this week is Nitzavim-Vayelech , Deuteronomy 29:9-31:30. This includes Moses' parting speech to the Israelites, as we near the end of the first five books of the Torah.
This Saturday is also Selichot. Traditionally, there is a late-night service the Saturday beforeRosh Hashana. The theme is repentance and prayer, thinking about the New Year, which begins next week. Here on the South/North Coast, we can think about how we would like 5771 to be a better year for us, how we can change ourselves to change the world.
Thanks to Sylvia Lenhoff for a donation to Beth Shalom in memory of Dr. Howard Lenhoff.
