County Fair Weekend at Beth Shalom

Thanks to Jill Munger and Rabbi Joe Hample for agreeing to keep services and torah study going for the rest of the summer at Beth Shalom.

In addition to the Del Norte County Fair (where eleven of my digital photos are competing) we begin the book of Deuteronomy this week. Sunday night and Monday next week are the fast day of Tisha B'Av, a day of mourning for all Jews, commemorated by some with fasting. This is the beginning of the time of repentance, leading to Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

We celebrate shabbat Friday night at 7 at the temple, 956 J Street in Crescent City.

Torah study continues at 4:30 Saturday afternoon at the temple. The parsha is Devarim, Deuteronomy 1:1- 3:22. This is in the form of a speech by Moses to the Israelites as they prepare to enter The Land.
