Beth Shalom News

I apologize for being late with this update. I was in Los Angeles until Monday; we had house guests from Tuesday until last night.

We will gather tonight to greet shabbat at 7 PM at the temple, 956 J St in Crescent City. I will lead services with the participation of the congregation.

Torah study continues at the temple Saturday from 10 AM until noon. The parsha is Ki Teitzei, Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19. This section contains rules for ethical behavior, some of it controversial.

Hebrew class continues Sundays at 11 AM at the new location in Brookings. Sarah and Morris are the teachers. Call Vivien at 541- 412- 7105 for more information.

High Holy Day services are coming up. Rosh Hashana services will be led on the second day by Rabbi Les Scharnberg. We will have an evening service Thursday, September 9 and a morning service September 10. Rabbi Joseph Hample will lead Yom Kippur services Saturday morning, September 18. I will lead a Kol Nidre service Friday night September 17 as a volunteer.

We would appreciate dues for the holidays and the coming year. We don't turn anyone away from services, including High Holy Day services, but we are asking for a donation of $360 per family. Please e-mail Barbara Johnson or Judi Lewis if you have questions. Barbara can be reached at chicdrpsy@yahoo.com, Judi's e-mail is judiwlewis@charter.net. Checks can be mailed to us at PO Box 1557, Crescent City, CA 95531.

The next edition of the Beth Shalom newsletter is in process. If you would like to submit an article, please send a note to delnortebethshalom@gmail.com.

I hope to see everyone this weekend.
