New Book Records History of Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean

I just wanted to share an interesting article I just read here: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/129316.  In a fascinating look at the catalyst behind what drove the pirates of the Caribbean to be, well –  pirates, a book titled "Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean" cites historical evidence that more than a few pirates were actually Spanish Jews escaping the forced conversion and torture of the Spanish Inquisition during the late 15th century.

It appears that many of the sponsors of Christopher Colombus' expedition were Jews seeking a new home where they could finally worship in peace.  Many of the expatriated Spanish Jews took up arms against the Spanish Navy with pirate ships raiding the Spanish fleet.

If you have the time, you might want to read this book.
