Changes at Beth Shalom

At a brief board meeting last weekend, we decided to have services and Torah study every other week. We will now meet only on the first and third weekends of the month, unless someone steps forward who is willing to lead services the off weeks.

Thei week is Shabbat Shira, The Sabbath of Song, so called because we read  The Song of The Sea, sung by Moses and Miriam after the Israelites cross The Sea of Reeds and the Egyptian soldiers are drowned. The haftara includes The Song of Deborah, a victory song in a battle with the Canaanites.

We will meet Friday at 7 P.M. for services at the temple, 956 J Street in Crescent City.

Torah study coontinues this week on Saturday afternoon from 4:30-6 P.M. We read Beshalach, Exodus 13:20-17:16. The haftarah is Judges 4:4-5:31.

Ideas, comments, suggestions, offers to lead services, plan a program, or be an officer in the temple are welcome. Send them to delnortebethshalom@gmail.com or by U.S. mail to P.O. Box 1557, Crescent City, CA 95531. We do not receive mail at our J Street address.

This information is repeated on our blog, http://templebethshalom.blogspot.com. On the blog, Chabad provides us with exact candle lighting times for shabbat in Crescent City.
