December 1, 2 and 3 at Beth Shalom

We will meet for shabbat worship this Friday evening, December 2, at 7 at the temple, 956 J Street in Crescent City.

Torah study continues Saturday from 4:30 P.M. to 6 at the temple. This week we study Vayetze, Genesis 28:10-32:3, which tells the story of Jacob as an adult. He leaves home, has a dream, marries two sisters, and is tricked, as he earlier tricked his father.

Thursday, December 1, is World AIDS day. Reverend Carol Layton of the United Methodist Church will speak at the church, at 7th and H Streets, at 6 P.M., then there will be a candlelight march to Tsunami Square. This would be a good opportunity for members of Beth Shalom to join with other religious people in the city.

Thanksgiving

Beth Shalom will be closed this week for Thanksgiving. A large percentage of our "regulars" for services and Torah study will be out of town.

Our Torah portion this week is Toledot, Genesis 25:19- 28:9. This section includes the story of Rebecca and Jacob deceiving Isaac. Great reading.

We'll be back in December with services and more of Genesis.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday. We all give thanks for the wonders of life.
